I am Aleš Suhadolnik, an endurance sports coach, Master of Kinesiology, and long-time long-distance triathlon competitor.
For over 14 years, I have been working professionally in the field of endurance training, combining modern scientific insights, practical experience, and an individualized approach to athletic performance development.
Over the years, my passion for endurance sports developed into an in-depth exploration of the physiology of prolonged exertion.
I obtained my Master's degree in kinesiology, focusing on "central and peripheral fatigue during ultra-endurance cycling," which today serves as a vital foundation for my approach to training, recovery, and performance optimization for endurance athletes.
As a coach, I have contributed to numerous top-tier achievements in triathlon, ultra-cycling, and para-cycling.
Under my guidance, cyclist Stanislav Verstovšek set a world record by covering 916 kilometers in 24 hours, earning an entry into the Guinness World Records. He later became the 24-Hour Time Trial World Champion in the USA and a three-time 24-Hour Cycling European Champion.
Triathlete Jaroslav Kovačič won a bronze medal at the 2019 Elite Long Distance Triathlon World Championship in Pontevedra, while Croatian triathlete Željka Šaban Miličić set the Croatian national Ironman distance record in the same year.
As the coach of the Slovenian national para-cycling team, I contributed to the success of Anej Doplihar, who won medals in World Cup races, achieved 3rd place overall in the World Cup standings, and became the H3 European Champion in 2026.
Currently, I serve as the head coach and selector for the Slovenian national para-cycling team, an associate at the Faculty of Health Sciences, and a lecturer at the Olympic Committee of Slovenia, where I help educate future sports specialists in endurance training.
I am also an active endurance athlete and long-distance triathlon competitor myself. I have successfully completed 17 Ironman triathlons, including three World Championships in Hawaii. In 2018, I finished 6th in my age group at the Ironman World Championship with a time of 9 hours and 26 seconds.
In addition to Ironman races, I have competed in numerous Half-Ironmans, marathons, half-marathons, and trail races, giving me a deep understanding of the physiological and psychological demands of long-term training and balancing sport with daily life.
My philosophy is rooted in continuously tracking scientific advancements in endurance and applying them meaningfully in practice.
In my athletes' training processes, I incorporate individualized periodization of training and nutrition, focusing on metabolic efficiency, carbohydrate periodization, and energy optimization during prolonged exertion.
I believe that a properly structured training program is essential not only for peak athletic performance, but also for long-term health, superior recovery, and sustainable athletic progress.
